Durga Puja in Kolkata 2020

Informative post on Durga puja of 2020

Durga puja is no longer a puja only, it has become an 😍 for all. And if you talk about Durga Puja in Kolkata, then for this we, kolkatans wait for an entire year. These four days of an year always give us sense of relief, happiness and relaxation from the stressful lives. Durga Puja comes with lights, musics, pandal hoppings, food stalls, and many more. To someone it gives the quality time to spend with his/her’s dear ones.

This year 2020 comes with so many uncertainties and that leads to the situation where people start getting depressed when they think about Durga Puja of 2020. By this time all the famous bazaars of Kolkata used to remain fully crowded where you would find people bargaining in the shops of Esplanade, Gariahat , Hatibagan. But this year 2020 is somewhat different, though now all the bazaars are open , but still there are sorrows, hopelessness all around the world. Hopefully Durga Puja of 2020 will help us to get rid of this pathetic situation.

Amid all these uncertainities WE, Kolkata’s Trending have come up with a little ray of hope as we are going to share the updated informations regarding Durga puja in Kolkata, Durga puja of 2020. Hopefully We will be able to bring back the smile on your faces.

When its mid of September and there were no posters around the city about the themes and the pandals of Kolkata, the situation obviously would depress you. But by the end of the September it’s great to see that some proceedings have started in the local club Durga Pujas. Maintaining all the precautions given by the Government, Kolkata and its puja Pandals are again ready to give you the moments of Durga Puja in Kolkata 💗.

North Kolkata Puja Pandals and Their Respective Themes

There are many people in Kolkata who start their pandal hoppings from the pandals of North Kolkata. There are so many popular and famous puja pandals in North Kolkata, which never disappoint Kolkatans. Let’s take a look at what they have come up with in this year Durga Puja of 2020.

Jagat Mukherjee Park, one of the well-known Puja Pandals of North Kolkata who became famous last to last year by making a theme of TIME MACHINE, this year they are making their pandal as a replica of old Kolkata’s Durga Puja. They are trying to bring in front of people how Durga Puja used to happen during 20th century specifically the year 1959.Durga Idol will also be a traditional one. It would be a nice treat to the eyes of each people. 😍

Santosh Mitra Square, again a famous name in terms of Kolkata ‘s well known and creative Durga puja Pandals. It’s the nearest location from Sealdah Station. Every year the puja committee have to handle a huge crowd. But this year due to the situation around they have decided to keep it simple. This year in Santosh Mitra square you will be visiting Badrinath’s Temple. They are going to follow all the precautions, and as what the secretary has said Durga Puja is happening in Kolkata that’s definitely a sense of relief.

But the picture is quite clear that this year there will be no grand scale puja celebrations in Kolkata. Most of the puja committees have reduced their expenditures of Durga puja as compared to last year. Due to the pandemic situation which has already damaged the city financially and Cyclone Amphan did its best to damage it physically. Kolkata is a city of dreamers; we are hopeful that we will come out of this difficult situation as a winner. If you ask me is Kolkata going to witness Durga Puja of 2020? Yes, it is but I would say not in its usual grandeur. 💓

From North Kolkata if you try to come towards the suburbs, Dum Dum every year brings in front of you one of the bests and unique pandals of Kolkata. This year, in 2020 they have also come up with few extra-ordinary ideas which worth a look.

SREEBHUMI SPORTING CLUB is going to take you to visit Kedarnath temple, if you haven’t visited yet. For the last few years they have been creating their pandals from the pages of History. This year they want to keep it simple yet beautiful.

DUM DUM PARK TARUN SANGHA, their theme of this year is CHOLO PALTAI, they want to project how amidst the adverse situation Durga Puja is going to be celebrated in Kolkata. Situation has changed, Durga Puja Proceedings are also supposed to be changed.

SOUTH KOLKATA PUJA PANDALS AND THEIR THEMES

As I have already shared with you the updated information about North Kolkata Puja Pandals, some of you have started thinking what about South Kolkata then. All those big names are keeping themselves simple and not that large this year. As per the updated information we have, three puja committees have come up with a brilliant idea of pandal hopping this year by collaborating with each other. They are going to make you witness the first time DRIVE-IN DARSHAN in Kolkata. They would allow people to slow down their cars and see the pandals along with the Durga idols from their respective cars.

Sanitizers will be sprayed on those cars before every puja pandal. As per the theme, as they have mentioned they are going to give a tribute to Satyajit Ray this year. The roads will be mapped in such a way that people will first visit BADAMTOLA, then proceed towards 66 PALLY and finally move to NEPAL BHATTACHARYA STREET DURGA PUJA. They have chosen APU’S TRILOGY as the theme for these three puja pandals. BADAMTOLA will portray scenes of ‘PATHER PACHALI’, 66 PALLY of ‘APARAJITO’, and NEPAL BHATTACHARYA STREET will showcase ‘APUR SANSAR’.

As we all are excited about puja and its proceedings as usual, we should not forget about the safety measures that we need to take. So, here are the few precautions which has been suggested by the government for your betterment and safety.

PRECAUTIONS NEED TO BE TAKEN Basically these precautions have been given to the club authorities. Your co-operation will also be required to them.

  • Inside the pandal there should be a specific distance between the visitors.
  • Announcement should be there as an alarm for all the pandal hoppers to maintain the distance.
  • Sanitizers and masks should be handy.
  • More numbers of club members should be arranged.
  • Anjali and Sindur Khela (one of the biggest excitements) will be conducted in three shifts.
  • Cultural programs are strictly banned.
  • There will be no puja carnival this year.

Help the members of the Puja committees and help yourselves too. After taking the precautions and safety measures, experience Durga Puja of Kolkata during the NEW NORMAL DAYS. 😷

Thank You, Keep following Us.👍
