This particular shop is one of them, but there is only one flaw of this sweet shop as it’s having no such names which you can easily find out in Google. It’s also known for making delicious “Monohora” of town. It’s said, Once the zaminder of Janai(A Place) had asked to make a new and innovative sweet but the sweet maker was not having any idea of what to make and how. It’s also said that he made some balls of Channa(Cottage Cheese) and kept it in sugar syrup in order to keep it intact. The zaminder had it and he was such impressed by the sweet that he named it “Monohora” which means something that steals your heart away and when you are going to have it you will definitely understand the name is quite justified😋. This sweet shop has so many more sweets to offer that your taste buds will ever have. Since 1844 this famous sweet shop is offering traditional sweets but whenever you visit this joint you would definitely find a new type of sweet as we had “Abar khabo”. Though We can hardly tell the reason behind such name but if you have it once, then your heart will definitely say one more please;😍 as in “Abar khabo”.

But this particular sweet shop of Kolkata with an extra ‘S’ which is going to be our next stop is famous for it’s ‘Misti Doi’.😋 This particular shop you can hardly locate as it’s in one of the busy streets of Kolkata. It’s in College street. The exterior of this sweet shop will definitely give you a not so good impression since it’s really old but the Misti Doi which is white in colour, is worth to try for. It’s available in clay pot, 100gm costs you 22 bucks which is quite cheap and there’s no compromises in the taste and quality, it’s obviously one of the bests. It’s known among local people that many great personalities like Satyajit Ray, Aparna Sen used to have it’s ‘Misti Doi’ for every such occasions.😊

Bowbazar was known to be the commercial market which is adjacent to Baithakkhana Road. Bowbazar is still known among the people by ‘Bowbazar’. It’s in the B.B. Ganguly street, the street which was quite famous for sweet shops during that time. It’s still famous and it’s one of famous sweet shops Bhim Nag is still offering tastier and delicious traditional sweets from it’s prior place. As per the history Bhim Chandra Nag became famous just by making a unique sweet which is fried and fully soaked in sugar syrup. Back then people were only having the idea of sweets which used to be sandesh which was made up of cottage cheese, in local language Chana.😃 In order to impress Lady Canning , Bhim Chandra Nag prepared a unique sweet and named it after Lady Canning, ‘Ladycany’ 😎. It’s a must try as it is kind of a memoir of Kolkata’s History.😇

The owner of this sweet shop has made this shop popular by not only making traditional and tasty sweets but by innovating the styles, tastes and designs of Sweets. They do not only make sweets but they have raised the bar of making namkeens too.😂 Their Chinese Singara is Kolkata famous. They have varieties of sandesh to offer such as aamer sandesh, Gurbhora Sandesh and many more. If you ever visit this sweet shop, do definitely try Malai Rabri, Mango Doi and Rasogolla. Kolkata’s age old Sree Hari is known for serving the same.😋 Whenever you visit this shop at any time in a day you will definitely find this shop crowded,people can be seen having Kochuri, Cholar dal and their famous Langcha😉. Sree Hari is known for offering the best langcha of town. You can get different sizes of Langcha over here which come in a pocket pinch cost. It tastes heavenly when you have Kochuri, cholar dal and langcha all together.😃 It’s said that one lame zamindar had once asked to make an interesting yet delicious sweets in Shaktigarh. This particular sweet was later renamed as ‘Langcha’ which is still a famous sweet of Shaktigarh, Burdwan. Here, in Kolkata Sree Hari Mistanna Bhandar has been providing best Langchas since 1812.😊

Felu Modak is one such name which is not only famous to the Kolkatans but to the people of various parts of world, as they are famous for delivering their sweets to the foreign countries as well. They are famous for making traditional sweets and they have been offering the same for past 170 years keeping the quality of their sweets intact and same as before. It’s established in the year 1848. Felu Modak is known for offering Mohini, Channar Murki , Takiya Langcha, Jhora bonde, Goja and Nikhuti, the list is keep continuing.😋 And the taste and quality of these sweets are unexplainable in words.
